Vegetable Storage Crates

My Mum has an old fire place in her kitchen and she wanted to make the space more useful. I have made two things for her, some oak vegetable storage racks and a wine rack to go on top.

I started with the vegetable storage crates. I made the main body of the cabinet out of some MDF and then painted it white using some chalk paint. I then finished the edges with some solid oak edge banding that I had cut. 

I made the vegetable crates form strips of oak that I cut on the table saw. I then glues and nailed them together. 

I finished the crates with some tung oil as it is food safe and that’s them all done.
